September 27th, 2010 by Pastor SolleyDeut 33:2929 Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt tread upon their high places.
Here we find a statement that had to be true of Israel. “Happy art thou”. They had to be happy didn’t they? With all that the Lord had done for them didn’t they have to be happy? Yet follow them out of Egypt and see how many times they wanted to turn back, see how many times they complained about their circumstances, see just how unhappy they were. Ever wonder why? Perhaps because they continued to look at the world and not at the Lord. Even though they were delivered from bandage they still had to live and walk through a sin cursed world. Even so with the Christian today. Think of what Jesus has done for us and we have every reason to be happy in the Lord. But so many keep their eyes on a world from which they have been delivered instead of looking to Jesus, instead of looking at Jesus. Not everything is good in this world, so not everything will be good that happens to us while we are walking through this world. But we have been delivered! This world is not our home, we are just passing through. We need to pray and ask for the help we need to keep our eyes on the Lord.
