14 Then said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.
John 11:38-44
38 Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.
39 Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.
40 Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.
42 And I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.
43 And when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.
44 And he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.Question; Do you think Lazarus was ever the same after this? I think not. For the rest of life in this world Lazarus would ever remember Jesus giving him new life. And think of the things Lazarus must have seen while he was dead. For the rest of his life Lazarus was changed. I believe Lazarus was saved before this happened, that he loved Jesus before this happened, that he even lived for the Lord before this happened. But after being made alive again by Jesus Lazarus must have been forever changed. He knew that everyday that he awoke was a day given to Him by God. That every breath he drew was one given to him by God. I think Lazarus lived everyday to the glory of God and served God in a deeper way. And now he was forever identified as one touched by Jesus. Isn’t that the way we are to live as Christians? Why does it seem like it would take the same thing to happen to us as happened to Lazarus? Don’t wait for a miracle, serve God today. Let others see you as one touched by Jesus.
