Job 29:1-5
29:1 Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
2 Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
3 When his candle shined upon my head, and when by his light I walked through darkness;
4 As I was in the days of my youth, when the secret of God was upon my tabernacle;
5 When the Almighty was yet with me, when my children were about me;Isn’t it true of all of us from time to time that we will look back on the past and think things better then? That there were more blessings, that we were closer to the Lord, that there was more joy and happiness. That can be true of all of us from time to time and was true of Job. And we know that Job could say those words in truth. (Verse 2) But one thing we need to keep in mind is that our God still stands with us and walks with us. Our God still provides and preserves. Yes we may be going through a trial but those will come to make us stronger, to allow us to walk closer to the Lord, and to give us a testimony that even the lost can see. We may long for months past but let us also glory in the present. No trial seems joyous when we are going through it but our God still preserves.
