19 And the angel of God, which went before the camp of Israel, removed and went behind them; and the pillar of the cloud went from before their face, and stood behind them:
20 And it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel; and it was a cloud and darkness to them, but it gave light by night to these: so that the one came not near the other all the night.
Our church camp starts today for the first time on our property so I ask you for your prayers for the week. The presence of God upon the camp of Israel was not only to guide them in the way they were to go but to protect them as well. We tend to think of this pillar of cloud by day and fire by night as something small extending up from the center of the camp and later the Tabernacle. But remember that was a large camp, about 2,000,000 people most think. This cloud went before there face as well as stood behind them. The presence of God was large upon Israel and protected them. It kept Egypt in the dark and Israel in the light. That is what we are asking for this week. That God would give light to the camp and protect us as well. Pray for us this week. We have 42 campers as well as workers and counselors coming this morning. We need the light of His Word and the protection of His presence.
