2 Cor 8:1-5
8:1 Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
2 How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
3 For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
4 Praying us with much intreaty that we would receive the gift, and take upon us the fellowship of the ministering to the saints.
5 And this they did, not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord , and unto us by the will of God.
I will be preaching Sunday, Lord willing, on making wise investments. That topic seems to be on the minds of many people today. What does the future hold, will we be ready for it, what about retirement, what will happen with the economy? Questions that are on most people’s minds. What are we then to invest in? What will bring a good return? I can give you a few things this morning. 1. Invest your soul in the Lord. What will it matter if you gain the world but lose your soul?
2. Invest your mind in the things of God. One could go mad with worry when thinking about this world and the problems we face. Stay your mind on the Lord.
3. Invest your time in serving the Lord. Look around and take note of all the things people get involved with that take up their time. And yet what you will hear from people is that they do not have time to go to church, do not have time to serve the Lord. But what will the social club, the sports club, what will those things do for you when trouble comes. Who will you turn to then?
3. Invest your money in the things of God. Lets say you lost $20,000 in the latest drop in the stock market. That money is gone. But what if you put that $20,000 into the Lord’s work? No, you would not have that money in your pocket but there would be a reward waiting for you in heaven that will never be taken away. Wise investments will pay off and none are wiser than investing in the Lord.
