2 Peter 1:1-4
1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
People make promises all the time. In fact, so many promises are made to us today that are not kept that we have trouble believing any. Just think of all the promises made to you that have been broken just recently. Then think of the promises you have made that you have broken. We live in a day of broken promises. Is any as good as their word, as good as their promise? There is one who is. There is one who have never broken a promise, one who cannot lie, one who will always keep what He has said. Yes we can trust the Lord, we can trust God to keep His Word. Think of the many promises in the Word of God, then think of the one who made them. Some promises are not worth the breath it took to speak them. But the Word of God stands forever true. God can keep His promises. The promise to never leave us, the promise to answer prayer, the promise to protect, the promise to provide, on and on we can go. And God will keep every promise He has made. If you take time to think of a promise today make it one that God has made.
