Mark 9:23-2823 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
24 And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief .
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.
26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.
27 But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose.
28 And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out?
There are times I think that we need help in our belief. The father of this child believed that Jesus could deliver him, but he needed help in his belief. Strange how this help often comes. The help did not come when this man took his child tot he disciples. There was still much trial to endure. The help came later when this man still looked to the Lord, still looked to heaven, when he brought the child to Jesus. Our help may also come after trials are endured. A lesson I am still learning as a Christian and a pastor. During the past month or so there have been trials. An auto accident, physical worries and a very recent scare. Last night my belief was helped by praying friends and God’s providence. We need to be helped from time to time by a reminder to keep looking to Jesus, to cry out that yes Lord we believe but help us in our belief.
