Ps 66:16-20
16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.
How wonderful it is to pray and to know that God does not turn away from our prayers. Yet I listen as people complain that God does not answer all of their prayers. If you stop and think about it, it is a wonder that God answers any of our prayers. Very often the reason prayers seem to go unanswered lies with the one saying the prayer. Many know nothing about a prayer closet, the deepness of prayer, or the tears of prayer. Prayer to many is a passing, hurried thing they must get done so they can on to the more important things in life. They know nothing of spending long hours with God in prayer, nothing about weeping over prayer, nothing about hanging on to God and not letting go. Look for these things in the Bible and they are there with Jesus spending long hours in prayer, Jeremiah weeping before the Lord, and Jacob wrestling with God and refusing to let go. Prayer is to be something great and meaningful in our lives. When prayer becomes that we will know God has not turned away our prayers.
