1 Peter 2:1-3
2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
“If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.” Do you know that the Lord is gracious today? Have you tasted the grace of God? Do you know Him as your personal savior? Many do not and that is why the word “if” in the verse. But if you do know that the Lord is gracious, if you know His grace in a personal way, what then? Then live it and show others. Put away that which is not good by the power and grace of God. (Verse 1) And then grow in Him by the desire of the Word, by heeding the preaching of the Word, by serving Him. (Verse 2) One great problem is the church today is that those who have tasted the grace of God live just like those who have not. They live just as much for the world as the lost person does. And then we wonder why the church has so little power and influence on the lost and in the world today. If we know of the grace of God we ought to show it and live it.
