39:1 And Joseph was brought down to Egypt; and Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh, captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him of the hands of the Ishmeelites, which had brought him down thither.
2 And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
4 And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.Joseph was brought down to Egypt but he was never brought down in Egypt. There more than a few reasons for this young man to become bitter against his brothers and even the Lord. He did nothing but that which was right his entire life. Yes he was just a man and so not perfect but you find nothing recorded in the Bible concerning Joseph that is negative, he was a good man. But he was brought down to Egypt without cause, sold as a slave and found himself separated from home, in a strange land, and serving as a slave. Yet he was never brought down in Egypt. He remained faithful to the Lord, kept a good testimony, and continued to keep that good spirit. Because of that God prospered him in Egypt, Christian we may be ling in a world of sin but we never need to be brought down in it.
