John 16:26-33
26 At that day ye shall ask in my name: and I say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you:
27 For the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came out from God.
28 I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go to the Father.
29 His disciples said unto him, Lo, now speakest thou plainly, and speakest no proverb.
30 Now are we sure that thou knowest all things, and needest not that any man should ask thee: by this we believe that thou camest forth from God.
31 Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
32 Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Jesus promised that He would pray to the Father for the believer. (Verse 26) Then He reveals why we will need those prayers so much. (Verse 33) In the world we will have tribulation. Even wonder why we have so much tribulation in our lives after we get saved? Here are some places to look for answers. Look up dear Christian. We are to be like God, to be conformed to the very image of Jesus Christ. But how do we get there? There must be some pruning done in our lives, some molding and shaping. We need to be put in the firs so the dross can be removed. Then look down. We have an enemy beneath us. Don’t think because we are saved that Satan is no longer going to bother us. He is that roaring lion walking about seeking whom he can devour. Then look around us. We live as strangers in a world given to Satan. We are now citizens of a heavenly calling. Don’t expect to be treated like a friend by those controlled by Satan. Then look within for we still have and battle the flesh. The refining fire would not be so hot if we were not our own worst enemy much of the time. In the world we will have tribulation.
