Jonah 2:9-10

9 But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.

10 And the LORD spake unto the fish, and it vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

“Salvation is of the Lord.” What a true and wonderful statement. But my focus this morning in on the one the Holy Spirit used to write those words. Jonah was a prophet before we are introduced to him in this book. A man serving God, a man who knew God. But also a man who wanted to serve on his own terms. So when the call came to go to Nineveh Jonah said no. It cost him a storm on the sea and being thrown into the waters. But God was not finished with the prophet. It then cost him three days in the belly of the fish. Finally Jonah called out to God, “salvation is of the Lord.” Here is the thought for the day. What do we put ourselves through before we finally cry out “salvation is of the Lord”? God is the master of our lives even if we don’t want Him to be. Wouldn’t it be better if we gave in to Him and turned all over to Him before trouble comes? Wouldn’t it be better to live “salvation if of the Lord” before we have to cry out those words from the belly of trouble?
