18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise : When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.The birth of Jesus Christ was on “this wise”. I know what the phrase means, God is about to reveal to us how the Son was given into this world. But think for a moment about “this wise”. When did that begin? By that I mean what transpired to bring God to the point that His Son would be given into the world and why? To answer that we need to go all the way back to the Garden of Eden. Back to the time when man was without sin and walked with God, talked with God, had fellowship with God. The moment that fellowship was broken God sought to restore it once again. That could only be accomplished if the sin problem was taken care of. Jesus Christ came into this world to take care of the sin problem. Not sin in the world, sin in you and me. “This wise” concerns us, concerns you today, Jesus Christ came into this world on “this wise”. To take care of our sin. Don’t forget that sobering truth this Christmas.
