3 John 9-129 I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
10 Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth them out of the church.
11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
12 Demetrius hath good report of all men, and of the truth itself: yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.

I was reading this passage this morning and began to meditate on the testimonies of the men named in verse 9 and 12. What a contrast in testimony. One loved himself, the other loved the Lord. This love took one to a poor testimony, the other to a blessed testimony.
Many people today ignore the importance of a good testimony. We are not told in this passage how many the first turned away from Christ by his bad testimony or how many the second brought to Christ by his good testimony. But this thing we do know, both are remembered in Scripture and for hundreds and hundreds of years people have read of their testimony. Can you imagine how the first has felt in heaven all these many years? How many have seen him in heaven and at once thought this is the man who loved himself, the world and the flesh so much he would not even receive a letter from John the one Jesus loved? This testimony has followed him all this time.
Do you realize that your testimony will follow you? Think of that today as you go through this world. You are making a testimony that will follow you.
