Rom 1:21
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful ; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.Don’t be like the world as we approach Thanksgiving day tomorrow. There are many with dark hearts, many who imagine they have dome something in this world, many who think they make their own way, many who are vain and will not and do not stop to thank God for what they have. Yes, even the lost man has what he has because he has received it from God.
Many, many years ago I watched a movie set in the civil war times starring Jimmy Stewart. He sat down at his dinner table with a large family around him and gave thanks for the meal. It went something like this… “Lord we cleared this land, Lord we planted this land, Lord we tilled this land, Lord we brought in the harvest, Lord we did it all by sweat and hard work. Still the same Lord we want to thank you for what we did.” It was a proud prayer without thanks.
Don’t be like the world. Think today of what you have by the mercy and grace of God and then think of what you would be left with if God were to remove that mercy and grace.
