22 It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. What are you thankful for this morning? Are you thankful for the mercy of God? Are you thankful that you are not consumed when you fail the Lord? Are you thankful for the faithfulness of God? What are you thankful for this morning? I have read the above verses many times and quoted them often. They have often been a help to me. But they can be a help only when we are leaning upon and walking with the Lord. There is a verse later in this chapter. Lam 3:58 O Lord, thou hast pleaded the causes of my soul; thou hast redeemed my life. The reason Jeremiah walked in the mercies of God is because he took his cause to the Lord always. He was a man walking with God. When Jeremiah would stumble he knew the Lord would life him up. Why? Because His mercies fail not, they are new every morning. God would give him the strength to walk above the world, to serve the Lord and stand with the redeemed. He took his cause to the Lord. Do you take your cause to the Lord? Is He your strength? Are His mercies new because you walk in them?
