1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.Jesus taught the disciples how to pray in His example, in His consistent manner in prayer, in accepting the nevertheless of prayer. We also see in the Bible that men ought to pray.
Luke 18:1And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
There are many things men ought to do. One of them pointed out in the Bible is prayer. Men ought to pray; why? Because we need to pray. Because we cannot overcome this world without prayer, without Christ, without the Holy Spirit, without the Father. We cannot overcome without prayer. At times it seems we can’t overcome with prayer, let alone without. How much time will you spend with the Father in prayer today? How much time with the name of Jesus Christ on your lips, how much time guided by the Spirit in prayer. Most professing Christians start the day with the TV instead of with God. Most spend more time with the world blasting into their ears than listening for the Spirit of God to lead. Count the time you spend in prayer today. See if it could be said of you, you ought to pray.
