11:1 And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray , as John also taught his disciples.
2 And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
3 Give us day by day our daily bread.
4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.Jesus taught the disciples to pray by His example in prayer, by being consistent in prayer and by the never the less of prayer. What do we mean by the never the less of prayer?
Matt 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.
As Jesus knelt in the garden, just hours from the cross He prayed for the cup to pass from Him. Many debate over what Jesus was praying and asking for here. I do not believe that Jesus was praying to get out of or away from the cross. The cross was the very reason Jesus Christ came into this world. Jesus went willingly to the cross, Jesus was not praying to be delivered from the cross. What Jesus was praying for is another topic. But notice the never the less of prayer.

There will be times when what we want will not be what is best, will not be in the perfect will of God. What to do then? Should we stop praying? Should we conclude that God doesn’t love us? Should we become so depressed we cannot function? What to do? Follow the example of Jesus. Get up and keep going for God. Too many have stopped because they did not get what they wanted. Get up and keep going for God.
