Ps 52 come to the house of A’him’-e-lech. Why boastest thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God endureth continually.
2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.
3 Thou lovest evil more than good; and lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
4 Thou lovest all devouring words, O thou deceitful tongue.
5 God shall likewise destroy thee for ever, he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
6 The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him:
7 Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
8 But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
9 I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.I wonder at times why people blame everything that is happening in their lives that is not good on God. I talk to people and they say that they have heart problems, or this one in the family is sick, or that one died, they lost their job, this happened, that happened, why did God do it? Why do people blame everything bad that happens in their lives on God?
But these same ones never praise God for anything good in their lives. That is always because of hard work or good luck. God never does anything good. In truth people love evil more than good as it says in the Psalm above, they just do not want to take responsibility for anything bad. Better to blame it on God.
In truth we all stand under the great mercy of God as we see in verses 8 – 9. What if God withdrew His mercy from you today? What would we do without the mercy of God? There are trials for all of us. Some great and some small. Truth be told we could not endure one of them, even the smallest of them if it were not for the mercy of God. Begin today to praise God for the good things, thank Him for His mercy and it may be that we see we are much better off than we knew. God gives us so many good things, we can trust in the mercy of God.
