1 Kings 18:39-41
39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.
41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
In Israel there had been a three year drought. It was so dry that there was not even dew on the ground for those three years. In verse 41 above God gives to Israel, or is about to give what they needed the most. There was a sound of abundance of rain. What brought them from the place of need to the place of supply? There are several points but in them are the facts that they tunred away from the popular man made religion of the day, Baal worship and turned to the true and living God. They made a decision to walk with God. When they did that God could give them what they needed the most. They also turned over to God their greatest need. A reading of this chapter shows that when Elijah would make an offering to God he asked the people to drench it with water. That which they needed the most was given to God. Then God could give them that which they needed the most. What it it that we need turn over to God today? When we do that we often receive from God what we need the most.
