Heb 11:32-38
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions,
Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:
And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
(Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.Not all the heros of faith have finished well. Many under the pressures of the world and the trials of Satan and of life have fallen by the way. But what of the ones who stayed faithful and stood until the end? What can be said of them. Notice verse 38 above, according to God the world was not worthy of them. What a thought, that in the eyes of God they were so faithful that the world that God created was not worthy of them. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful to hear when one gets to heaven, that God would say the world was not worthy of you, you were so faithful to me. I fear not many will hear those words. Paul did, Peter did, John did, many great men and women of God from yesterday have heard those words I am sure. Perhaps by the power of the Spirit and the grace of God we may stay faithful to Him to the end. Then perhaps we may hear those words as well. Be a hero of the faith in the eyes of God.
