Matt 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
Phil 1:6-7 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
KJV
The word savourest which are looking at is found in verse seven above as it is translated “To think”. Paul had a heart and mind for brothers and sisters in Christ, Paul cared about others, thought about others and prayed for them night and day according to 2 Tim 1:3. In this increasing day of “Me first” and getting what we think we deserve, do we have a true heart felt care for others? Do we think of others and pray for them? Do we consider the cares and needs of others and pray for them? Do we then put those prayers into action and try to be a help to others? I know so many consumed with self and their needs, their trials, their troubles that it sends them into deep depressions and some never get out of those depressions and discouragements. What if we had a mind and heart for others as Paul did? Might that change our countenance? No one with the exceptions of Jesus Christ had more troubles and trials than Paul did. Yet no one had more joy of the Lord than Paul did as well. Might we have more joy of we cared about others more than self?
