Ps 13 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
2 How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
3 Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
4 Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
5 But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
6 I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

How long does the Lord forget His children, how long does He leave them alone? We may feel like that from time to time, even the strongest of Christians may feel as if they are all alone and God has forgotten them. Elijah felt like that, David must have felt like that, forgotten by God. That being said, don’t be surprised if you feel like that from time to time, forsaken and forgotten even by God. Yet David said that he trusted in the mercy of God and rejoiced in the salvation of God in verse 5. How can that be if he felt forgotten by God? The answer to that question lies in verse 6. When we do feel like that we need turn our thought to what God has already done for us, turn our thought to His bountiful blessing upon us. God has done great things for you my friend, for me as well. God has done more than we could ever deserve or thank Him for and we need think on those things and praise God for them. What God has done is assurance of what God will do. We are not forsaken in the storms of life, our God is and will deal bountifully with us. That is what we need to remember and dwell upon, not the troubled seas of life.
