2 Peter 1:3-4 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Partakers of the divine nature does not mean that the Christian becomes God for that could never be. But it does mean that because one is born again he or she can by the grace of God become what we could never be without Him. For example God is love, so we can learn to love. (1 John 4:12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.) We can forgive others because God forgives us. (Eph 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.) We can walk in truth because God is truth. (John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.) What a blessing that true salvation brings about true and real changes in our lives and makes our life better each and everyday.
