Mark 6:30-31 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

Labor Day is a day set aside to honor the American worker, a day of well deserved rest for those who work so hard through the year and years. We see in our reading this morning the apostles getting a well deserved rest themselves. But there is one in the account who never takes a day off, not even one hour, one who never slumbers or sleeps, the Lord Jesus Christ. I am not claiming that during His earthly ministry Jesus never slept, never rested, was never apart and alone. But I am standing on solid ground when I state that our Lord never takes time off from watching over us, never is asleep when we are in need, never departs from us, is always there for us all of the time each and every minute of each and every day. We may need a day off every now and then but our Savior never takes a day off. I will thank Him for that today.
