Prov 16:31 The hoary head is a crown of glory, if it be found in the way of righteousness.
Josh 14:11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
KJV
Age, the passing years and the circumstances of life can rob us of many things, but not our usefulness for the Lord. I called a very old and dear friend yesterday to catch up and also to hear his voice. I met him for the first time in 1985 or 86 and that voice has changed over the years I have known him and his family, it has gotten weaker, it is at times hard to understand as he is well into his nineties and we cannot talk for long over the phone. But one thing has not changed and that is his spiritual strength and his walk with the Lord and to hear him say “I am praying for you and your family” was an encouragement to me. As we said goodby I could not help but think of Proverbs 16:31 and how his life in the Lord and his testimony has influenced me over the years and continues to do so. Age and the passing of years do take some things away from us, but not our usefulness for the Lord. How many will look at you today and are thankful for the way you have stayed faithful in your walk with the Lord, how many will see you wear your gray head and say it is a crown of glory?
