Job 23:10-12 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
11 My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
KJV
How hard it must have been for Job to maintain that attitude in the midst of the trials of his life. Life was not fair to Job, he did not deserve the trials he was going through, he did not understand and his friends were of little help to him as they only added to his burden. (Job 16:20 My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.) Job must have cried until he could cry no more. Yet Job knew that God still loved him, that God does all things well, and that he could not turn away from the only one that could bring him through those fiery trials. Job experienced what the prophet would write down hundreds and hundreds of years later. (Isa 43:2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.) What a wonderful testimony Job had but Job also had to first have the test.
