2 Peter 1:1-4 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

Exceeding great and precious promises. There are few verses in the Bible that provide more comfort, joy and rest than verse four above. There are few verses in the Bible that bring a lasting comfort to the Christian than verse four above. There are few verses in the Bible that bring a steadfast hope to the child of God than verse four above. If those promises were made by a man then we would have reason to question them. If those promises were made by angels we would have reason to doubt them. But those exceeding great and precious promises are made by God and are ours through the Lord Jesus Christ and that is what makes them sure. No matter the current circumstances of your life or mine they will not change the promises of God that we can claim today and that is a great encouragement to the child of God. Here is one such promise that we can depend upon today with more to follow as our week goes on. Eph 3:20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, As ones goes to the Lord in prayer today we have the promise that He is able to go far beyond the greatest miracle we ask for according to His perfect will.
