Perhaps the strongest of all men called apostles in the Bible, perhaps the greatest missionary found in the New Testament, perhaps the one who started more churches in the apostolic age, perhaps the one who was delivered from the mouth of the lion more times than any other in the New Testament, the one who sang out praises in the prison cell louder than any other, this same one was asking for special prayer from the children of God. Paul knew that whatever the Lord had said the Lord would do. (1 Thess 5:24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.) Paul knew he was standing in the will of God by the grace of God. (1 Thess 5:28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen. ; 1 Cor 15:10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.) Paul also knew he needed the prayers of God’s people. (1 Thess 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.) How much time will you spend in prayer this day for others, for those in great need, and for you pastor? Hopefully this week we will look at how the prayers of others on behalf of others lifted up men and women of God as found in the Bible. The God we serve will do what He has said and still we need the prayers of God’s people holding one another up. 1 Thess 5:25 Brethren, pray for us.
