And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.

So far we have noted two relationship wasted because the younger son took his substance and went into a far country. (1) The relationship with his father. (2) The relationship with his brother. This morning a third and that being the relationship between his new friends in the far country. (Luke 15:16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.) The difference being that this time they, the new friends, wasted him. When the money ran out, when they were done using him, he found himself wasted because no man gave unto him when he was in need. No born again child of God can make a friend of the world. (1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.) I have found that when those of the world want to make a close friend of me it is only so they can move me away from a close walk with my heavenly Father. I truly believe that most of the time those ones don’t even know that, but it is true. (1 Cor 15:33 Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.) Then there are some that do know what they are trying to do. In the end when one makes a close friend of the world they will find themselves wasted and when the world is done with them they will be alone. Three relationship wasted so far and one more to go Lord willing tomorrow.
