Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
KJV
Today being the first day of June many will be paying monthly bills and those same bills will come due next month as well. Above is the first use of the words first day in the Bible. On that day, the first day of creation, there was a division between light and dark. It is a division that continues today as we make application between the Light of the world and the darkness of sin. That is a divide that can never be crossed and all of us born in sin must one day pay the price of sin, one day the bill must be paid. (Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:) Born in darkness, no hope of standing in light, no hope of paying that terrible bill. But then one paid that bill for us with His shed blood on the cross and on the first day of the week guaranteed it paid in full with His bodily resurrection from the darkness of the tomb. (John 20:1 The first day of the week cometh Mary Magdalene early, when it was yet dark, unto the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. ; Luke 24:5-6 And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,) Jesus is the bridge upon which we can cross from dark into light and it is a glorious day, the first day of the week when one knows Jesus as their personal savior because that bill of sin will never come due, He paid it all.
