Ps 116:12-15 What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?
13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.
14 I will pay my vows unto the Lord now in the presence of all his people.
15 Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.
KJV
Have you taken the cup of salvation, have you called upon the Lord Jesus Christ to save you from sin, death and hell? There is great joy in that cup of salvation offered only by and through the shed blood of Jesus on the cross and that is what makes verse fifteen above so true. Death is often seen as a terrible thing, something to be feared, something that no one in this world wants to see and all that may be true when one dies apart from Jesus Christ. But when one does know Jesus as his or her personal savior death is a precious thing in the sight of the Lord and it becomes precious in our sight as well. Not that we should hasten death, not that we should want to leave this world before our task on earth is done, not that we should laugh at death when it touches one we love or any such thing. But when one dies knowing Jesus as savior death has no victory, death has little sting. (1 Cor 15:55-57 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? 56 The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.) I will conduct a funeral service today and the most important thing I know about the individual who has passed is that they gave testimony of receiving Jesus as their savior. That will make this day a precious day because as tears will be shed they will be precious tears. Please pray as you finish reading this that others will come to Jesus as well, will repent and receive the free gift of salvation offered by Jesus for He is the only way to be saved. (John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.)
