Ps 11:1-3 In the Lord put I my trust: How say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?
2 For, lo, the wicked bend their bow, they make ready their arrow upon the string, that they may privily shoot at the upright in heart.
3 If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?
KJV
What foundation do you rest your life upon today? What foundation do you want your children and grandchildren to rest upon? Is it the foundation of a large savings account, a 401K, a government that you hope will take care of you, of friends in high places, what foundation can you rest upon that will never be destroyed? That foundation is found, the one that will never be destroyed, in verse three above and it points to the one named in verse one. The only foundation that will never be destroyed is the Lord Jesus Christ. The question asked in verse three is one that needs not be answered because our sure foundation is the Lord Jesus Christ. Banks have failed, the 401K has lost value, all governments of the past have passed because of corruption within, and friends and family in high places all leave this world one day. What foundation should we rest upon today? (1 Cor 3:10-11 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. 11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.) What could be more important than resting upon a sure foundation and living a life that will direct and encourage others to do the same? We will look this week, Lord willing, at some who tried to build on other foundations and failed and at the one sure foundation that will never crumble or be destroyed. Rest your life on the one sure foundation.
