Gen 7:11-13 In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
13 In the selfsame day entered Noah, and Shem, and Ham, and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah’s wife, and the three wives of his sons with them, into the ark;

Our reading this morning contains the first occurrence of the word year in the Bible in verse eleven. It was going to be a different type of year for Noah and his immediate family, one they had never experienced before and one perhaps they did not altogether welcome. But we find that they were placed in an ark and it was an ark of safety for them, an ark of protection, an ark that withstood all the changes because it was an ark ordered by God. There may be many changes as well in 2026 as we are arriving at a New Year. Some of those changes may not be altogether welcomed as there may be changes in health for some, changes in employment for some, for some loved ones my leave this world, and perhaps even we may step into eternity as well over the next twelve months. Are you then standing at this moment in an ark of safety, are you trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ to take care of you, are you asking for His grace to meet every change that lies ahead, are you safe in the hands of Jesus today? If that answer is yes it will be a happy and good New year for those things depend upon our relationship and walk with the Lord. If the answer is no then you need to turn to Jesus Christ today and receive Him as your personal savior.
There is a need to be saved. (Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;) There is one who loves you and paid the price so you can be saved. (Rom 5:8-9 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.) There is a way to be saved. (Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.) Salivation in Christ makes all the difference and will make 2026 a happy New Year.
