Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
“His name is wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God.” Jesus is THE mighty God. One can tend to forget exactly who Jesus is at this time of year as we look at a baby in manger but that one held in the arms of Mary that night is the Almighty God of creation. He is the one who spoke this world into being, the one who knows the number of the stars, the one who stops the ocean waves, the one who holds all things in His hands, Jesus is the MIGHTY God. Where then do in need to look when I am troubled, when I am in need, when I need help in this world? I have many I can look to such as my wife, my children, my church family, all are there for me and I thank the Lord for them all and the fact that all pray for me and would answer any call for help. But there is one who is able to meet every need that I have and He is standing at this very moment listening for me to call upon Him. (Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.) My Savior is able because my Savior is the MIGHTY God. The one who knows the number of hairs on my head at this moment is the one I need to call on first in times of trouble but not just then, I can call upon the MIGHTY God all of the time. As I will be bowing my head in just a few moments in prayer I will be spending time with the MIGHTY God of all creation and He wants to spend time with me. There are times I am overwhelmed as I spend time with Jesus and when I am not I have forgotten that Jesus Christ is the MIGHTY God.
