Neh 11:17 And Mattaniah the son of Micha, the son of Zabdi, the son of Asaph, was the principal to begin the thanksgiving in prayer: and Bakbukiah the second among his brethren, and Abda the son of Shammua, the son of Galal, the son of Jeduthun.

How often do our prayers include thanksgiving? We are to come before the Lord in prayer asking for our daily needs to be met, asking for wisdom and guidance in decisions we must make, asking for strength to walk as a born again believer, asking for the peace that passes all understanding, and so much more. We are encouraged to pray and ask of our God. (Jer 33:3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.;
Luke 18:1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 1 Thess 5:17 Pray without ceasing.) But do our prayers include thanking and praising our great God for what He has already done in our lives, for miracles we have seen, for the provision He has provided, for the peace that He has granted? How often do we give thanks unto God in prayer? We teach our children to say thank you when they receive even the most basic and simple things they need as we should. But do we ever stop and thank God for the great things He has done in our lives? That we need to do also.
