Psalm 107:28-32 Then they cry unto the Lord in their trouble, And he bringeth them out of their distresses. 29? He maketh the storm a calm, So that the waves thereof are still. 30? Then are they glad because they be quiet; So he bringeth them unto their desired haven. 31? Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men! 32? Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people,And praise him in the assembly of the elders. (They are glad because they be quiet. Verse 30)
As we read this Psalm we find one in trouble, one in distress, one in a storm. Then we find they are glad because they are quiet. The meaning is not that they did not pray, not that they did not cry out to the Lord, but that they had no complaint in the midst of the storm. Think back to the children of Israel as they went from Egypt to the Promised Land. In those 40 years of wondering I wonder how many times they were quiet before the Lord? It seems as if they were always complaining about something. No water, no food, even no Egypt. I wonder how many times they felt the presence and peace of God or if most of them ever felt those things with the way they complained. Yes we do have storms in our lives, times of distress. Try this, try just praying and sitting quietly before the Lord. Instead of complaining let u thank Him for all that He has done for us and wait for Him to take care of the storm. See if we can be made glad because we have been quiet before the Lord.
