Ps 4:6-8 There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? Lord, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.
7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.
8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.

“Now I lay me down to sleep, the Lord I pray my soul to keep.” That was the way my prayers began each evening as a child with mom or dad by the beside as we knelt and said bedtime prayers. Little did I know at that time how truthful and profound those simple words are. What a joy to know that there is one that will take care of your soul and keep you until morning light and beyond that will keep you for all eternity in His powerful arms. There has been a gladness in my heart from the moment I received Jesus as my personal savior until this very moment, a gladness that can only come from knowing one is saved by the blood of Christ and has eternal life. I pray that all who read this short devotional can say you laid down in peace last night and awoke with that same peace and gladness because you know the Lord. Who can show us good? Jesus can.
