March 4th, 2011 by Pastor SolleyLuke 14:16-23 Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: 17?And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. 18?And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. 19?And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. 20?And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. 21?So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. 22?And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. 23?And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
I had the privilege yesterday of witnessing to one in the hospital who was so open and receptive to the gospel. I don’t know if that person received the Lord Jesus Christ or not, they did not while we were with them. But they were so pen to the gospel message that it was a blessing. What they were depending on o take them to heaven they came to understand could not. They are very religious but as so many it is a dead religion. To see the wonder in their eyes when they listened of what Jesus did for them, to see the concern when they realized religion was not going to save them, to see the understanding of sin, judgment and the price Jesus paid. Even though they did not get saved then I do know God’s Spirit is at work. What a blessing to carry the gospel message to one who is open and receptive. We will go out on church visitation and see that one in her home Lord willing. Perhaps we will find out they have been saved by Jesus Christ. But I wonder how long has it been since you compelled one to come to Jesus? That is what we are commanded to do. Hard to red verse 23 any other way. What are you doing to win the lost? People need to hear, God wants them saved, are we doing our part?
