August 22nd, 2025 by Pastor SolleyJames 4:13-15 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:
14 Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
15 For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
KJV
How few are those who claim to want to walk in the will of God who also will pray “If the Lord will”. We male plans, we pray and most of the time according to what we want to do and what we want to see happen. When our desires are not met we often get discouraged and then we should ask ourselves why that is so. Is God’s will best? Doesn’t God want what is best for us? Doesn’t our God think good thoughts towards us? Those answers are yes, always yes. So why not pray “If the Lord will” all of the time? Because, at least with me, the flesh and selfish desires often get in the way. Yet my God knows what is coming tomorrow and I do not, my God knows what is best for tomorrow and I do not, my God’s ways are higher and mine are not. So why not pray “If the Lord will”?
