Gen 24:63 And Isaac went out to meditate in the field at the eventide: and he lifted up his eyes, and saw, and, behold, the camels were coming.
Ps 119:23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.
1 Tim 4:15 Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all.
KJV
The word meditate is found fourteen times in the Bible and it means to stop and think upon the things of God, to allow your mind to rest upon the things of God. It is NOT to let you mind be empty as the word is used so many times today, but to allow the mind to be completely given to things of God, the Word of God, the actions of God, to meditate upon the Lord, to shut everything off and out and think deeply and quietly upon Lord. Many today seem to have a need to be around noise all of the time. The TV needs to be on, there needs to be music all of the time, they need the sound of the keyboard, the smart phone needs be in their hand and what is left out is quiet time with God. If God wants us to meditate upon His Word, if God wants our minds to be given to Him, who then wants us to have the noise of the world all of the time? I hear people say they cannot even rest without some type of noise. When we begin to find that true in our lives we need to remember who is winning the spiritual battle, turn off the noise, and sit quietly before our God. When was the last time you meditated upon the things of God?
