1 Thess 5:23-25 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
KJV
Hoe important is prayer in the life of the born again believer in Christ? The answer is found when one looks at how important prayer was to those in the Bible. Above Paul asks believers to be praying for him and there are at least three times that Paul ask for specific prayer for himself. Let us consider prayer this week. First, Paul asked for prayer concerning his preaching. (2 Thess 3:1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:) Paul knew that Satan was trying to silence him and that Satan was also trying to harden the hearts of those who heard the gospel message. In order for the gospel to go out the Word of God would have to have free course, be unhindered. This preacher of preachers needed prayer to help spread the gospel message. We also should be praying and asking for prayer in the same way and for the same reason. This is NOT for preachers alone but for ever child of God for we have been given the charge of spreading the gospel message, telling other about Christ and we need prayer that the Word of God have free course. Many have a heard time sharing the gospel, witnessing to others, handing out gospel tracts, but have you ever prayed and asked God to give the gospel free course in your life? Have you ever asked for prayer so you could better share the gospel? Even Paul knew that he needed prayer to share the gospel and how much more do we?
