February 21st, 2011 by Pastor SolleyMark 14:3-6 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head. 4?And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made? 5?For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her. 6?And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me.
“There came a woman.” Nothing else said about here here in Mark except that she “wrought a good work” on Jesus. Think of that for a moment and see if there could be any greater things said of her? What a testimony to carry in this world, that you have done a good work for Jesus. And this is not the testimony of a man but of our Lord. Let that sink in. I wonder if Jesus would say that about you today? Could Jesus say that after considering the past week, even yesterday, that you did something good for Him? I wonder if we would start this day with those words as a goal, that Jesus would be able to say we did something good for Him. Would that shape your day, would it make it different? I know it will mine. Let us begin this day, continue in it with that end in mind. That Jesus would be able to say we did something good for Him.
