2 Sam 23:8 These be the names of the mighty men whom David had: The Tachmonite that sat in the seat, chief among the captains; the same was Adino the Eznite: he lift up his spear against eight hundred, whom he slew at one time.
KJV
With Memorial Day fast approaching I want to look at some mighty men, some mighty soldiers in the Bible this week and no better place to look than the mighty men of David’s army. David was a man after the heart of God and David was used of God in a mighty way. But David never stood alone, other faithful men stood with him, soldiers in his army stood with him. With each notable deed we can make a spiritual application and the Bible elaves a memorial about them. Here we find one who was willing to stand with David when greatly outnumbered. Eight hundred to one in a fight is being greatly outnumbered. The one who is willing to stand with God today, stand for what is right and fight against what is wrong according to the standards of the Word of God is going to find themselves outnumbered, greatly outnumbered. But that is exactly what is needed in this world today as we see compromise on every side and so many who once stood for truth giving in. Where do you stand today in this spiritual battle? Many that I know personally, that I knew stood for the Lord have fallen in the spiritual battle with compromise. They have gone along with changes in music leaving the old hymns of the faith. They have left the KJB and moved on to what they say are more enlightened versions. I wonder can any have more light than God who gave His Word? They have left the standards of the Bible and adopted the standards of the world. What we need are soldiers in God’s army who are willing to stand even though outnumbered. We need some like we find in verse eight above. The Bible leaves a memorial about that man.
