Phil 4:11-13 Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content. 12?I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. 13?I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
I visited with an older Pastor last evening who has cancer for the second time. What a blessing it was to spend some time with him. As we talked I did thank him for all he has done for me over the years and when he responded that nothing really came to his mind that he had done for me I reminded him what an encouragement it is to see someone stay faithful to the Lord all through the years. To be content in what the Lord called him to do and stay faithful. I am not sure we can really understand how important that type of testimony is. I am sure Paul was an encouragement to those around him as he remained faithful no matter the circumstances he was in. It is no less of an encouragement to us today when we see someone who is simply faithful to the Lord. Someone who has learned that no matter what state they are in to be content in Christ.
