27 And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

I wonder what the Simon in verse twenty six thought as they drew him out of the crowd and placed the cross of Jesus upon him? Was it a privileged to bear the cross of Jesus? Was it a shame to bear the cross of Jesus? I wonder what that man thought at that moment? Today we as believers are called to bear a cross for Jesus.(Matt 10:38 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. ; Matt 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.) This is NOT the cross of Calvary, but a cross that is placed upon us to bear for Jesus. This could be a cross of giving up friends and family so we can walk with Jesus. It is a cross of giving up self and selfish desires so we can serve Jesus. It could be a cross of physical distress we bear for the cause of Christ. It could be a cross of many types that we bear for the name of Jesus. But when that cross comes, and it will, how do we bear it? Do we murmur and complain about our lot in life or do we give thanks in everything and glorify God? I do wonder about the man in the verses above and how he felt that day. Then I ask my Lord and Savior to help me bear the cross that comes upon me for His honor and glory. How will you bear the cross that comes your way today?
