Josh 14:10-11 And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
KJV
An amazing statement is made in verse eleven above, that Caleb was as strong at eighty five as he was at forty years of age. As we grow older in this world we realize that Caleb had to be speaking of more than physical strength. At sixty six years of age I know I am not as strong as I was at forty and I never will be let alone eighty five if the Lord grants that many more years. What then was Caleb talking about though I do not doubt his physical strength because I believe the Word of God. Caleb had not lost his spiritual strength, in fact that spiritual strength had grown over the years from the time he and Joshua gave a good report of the Promised Land. We also can be “As strong this day” in the Lord even though we are growing older. We can pray more, spend more time in His Word, be a testimony, be a witness for our Lord even as we grow older in the Lord. I talk to many who are older and they feel as if they have reached a time in this world that they can do little for Jesus and that is just not so. As we grow older there is strength that does not have to diminish, strength that can grow. Be strong in the Lord today and be stronger tomorrow.
