Matt 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
KJV
What made Joseph a just man before God? He was obedient to the Word of the Lord as brought to him by the angel. He took no pleasure in sin, his or in others. He was filled with compassion. Today we see that Joseph willing to walk in the will of God setting his own will and desires behind him. (Matt 1:24-25 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: 25 And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.) I am sure that the plans Joseph had made for his wife and family did NOT include all that was ahead of them. The birth of Jesus in Bethlehem in such humble surroundings, the soon flight into Egypt, the return from Egypt but not to his hometown, all the things that were ahead of Joseph he willing did according to the will of God in his life. How many of us are willing to surrender our will to the will of our heavenly Father? Joseph was a just man before God.
