Have you ever wondered what it was that God saw in Joseph that God would call him a just man? That is statement that is not made often in the Bible, that so and so was a just man. What made Joseph a just man. Some things we see in the context. First, Joseph was obedient to the voice of God. (Matt 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. ; Matt 1:24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:) No questions for the angel, no “Why Mary”, no “Why me”, Joseph was obedient to what God wanted him to do. To be considered just before God one must be obedient to the Word of God. That word was brought to Joseph by an angel, it is given to us today in our King James Bible. Can you say this morning that you are obedient before God? None of us are or ever will be perfect in this world, but we can all try by the grace of God and power of the Holy Spirit within to be obedient to the Word of God. Joseph didn’t question, Joseph got up and did. This day presents another new day when I can ask my God for help and strength to be obedient to His Word and while I will never be a Joseph I can try to obey God. Joseph is an example in obedience.
