I have counted eighteen times that Jesus said “Follow Me”. As one looks back on the past year I wonder who they have followed the most? Is it Jesus, is it self, is it the world, I wonder who it is that one has followed the most in the past year? Who or what did I follow the most in 2024? Now, who will I chose to follow in 2025? It is so easy to get caught up with self, with trials, with the world, with social media and so many other things that Jesus can get pushed into the background. We still follow Jesus but only after we have given time and energy to so many other things. Who will we chose, who will I chose to follow in the New Year? To follow Jesus will mean that one must deny self, put the world behind, the flesh behind, give up many things perhaps, and at times the sacrifice might seem great in our minds. But when following the Lord Jesus Christ the profit will always be greater than the things we might call loss in this world. For Jesus to give the same command eighteen times it means it is important to follow Him. Who will you chose to follow in the New Year?
